Everyday Sustainability Training

Workforce everyday sustainability training

Summary
Training staff to think about their day-to-day actions is one part of a sustainable development programme which cannot be ignored.  EMG have the experience and firsthand knowledge to provide a training package for your staff, be they volunteers with an interest, identified champions from departments, or all your staff across the organisation.

We can provide engaging and interactive sessions to inspire your workforce into realising what they can contribute to the organisation by considering energy, procurement, waste, travel/transport, water, biodiversity, health and wellbeing, partnerships and networks, information sharing and adaptation.

By investing in a comprehensive training programme for your workforce, you can expect to:

  • Reduce wastage of resources
  • Increase productivity
  • Enthuse your workforce
  • Provide employees with the opportunity to improve their knowledge
  • Provide employees with the opportunity to network with colleagues in different departments

Learning outcomes (everyday sustainability training)

EMG’s comprehensive training will reinforce and support your organisation’s sustainability objectives. Investing in your employees pays off, staff will feel engaged and valued, while improving their own wellbeing at work.

By changing workplace behaviours and engaging employees, you will lower costs and improve your organisation’s effectiveness.  Your staff will leave this training feeling knowledgeable and up-to-date about what sustainability means today in your organisation (and to some degree, in their life outside of work).

Your workforce will become informed about the:

  • Basics of climate change science
  • Reasons to take action
  • Organisation’s ambitions
  • Work happening ‘behind the scenes’
  • Actions they can take
  • Myths and realities of sustainability

Potential added values

This provides the opportunity for you to create a network of staff with whom to communicate and disseminate information.  You may choose to provide follow-up one-on-one visits to the individuals departments to identify opportunities and issues, which could be recorded electronically and fed into an implementation programme.  This may form part of a wider engagement strategy. You may feel an online forum would be useful for trainees to communicate with one and other, or you might choose to have continued training and events to ensure long-term engagement.  EMG can help with time and resources to facilitate all these opportunities if you so wish.
